The storyteller is like the scientist who can fix anything by cleaver adaption of the materials and tools at hand. The scientist studies the problem in the abstract. The storyteller studies the problem too then describes the solution in a way we understand using the raw materials at hand. In the final analysis, the difference between the scientist and the storyteller may come down to counting in one’s head rather than counting on one’s very concrete fingers. Storytelling is an evolutionary process. It does not make life boring or meaningless. Stand on the sea shore and look at the sea. Is it boring, is it ever boring? Yet there it is, motion without progress, forever.
